Realme has recently introduced the Realme C53 in Malaysia, offering a sizable, budget-friendly smartphone for the entry-level market. The device is now available on Lazada for MYR 550, featuring a 6/128GB configuration. In comparison, the slightly more advanced C55 is priced at MYR 700 with an identical memory setup.
Interestingly, the Realme C53 is virtually the same as the Realme Narzo N53, which was launched in India a few weeks prior. The Indian version had a 4/64GB base model, while the 6/128GB variant is priced at INR 11,000, equivalent to $133. The C53’s price is slightly lower in US dollars, at $120. Here’s what you can expect for the cost.
The Realme C53 boasts a large 6.74″ LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. An 8MP front-facing camera sits within a teardrop notch, while the Realme UI features Dynamic Island-like notifications. A fingerprint reader is located on the side of the device.
On the back, there’s a basic 50MP camera capable of 1080p @ 30fps video recording (note that the selfie camera maxes out at 720p @ 30fps). A secondary module functions as a depth sensor.
Despite its substantial size (167.3 x 76.7mm), the phone maintains a slim and lightweight profile at 7.5mm thick and 182g. It houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W SuperVOOC charging, enabling a 1-50% charge in just 31 minutes using the included charger. Additionally, a 3.5mm headphone jack is present.
The C53 is powered by the Unisoc T612, a 12nm chipset with 2x Cortex-A75 and 6x A55 cores, along with a Mali-G57 GPU. As mentioned earlier, it comes with 6GB of RAM, which can be doubled using virtual RAM. The 128GB storage is expandable with microSD cards. Note that this dual-SIM 4G device has a three-slot card tray, eliminating the need to choose between a second phone line and extra storage.
The Realme C53 can be found on Lazada for MYR 550 and Shopee (currently listed at MYR 600). It is available in two color options: Champion Gold and Mighty Black.
